Hahnekamp‑Sailer Zweigelt Haussatz 2022, 13.5% vol., dry
- Winery: Hahnekamp‑Sailer, Großhöflein (Leithaberg, Burgenland, Austria)
- Grape variety: 100% Zweigelt (estate’s own “Haussatz” selection)
- Vintage: 2022
- Alcohol: 13.5% vol.
- Residual sugar: 1.0 g/l → clearly dry
- Acidity: 5.3 g/l
- Maturation: in large wooden casks (less oak imprint, more focus on fruit)
Sensory profile (typical for this style)
Colour: Intense ruby red with violet reflections, very lively for a young Zweigelt.
Nose: Ripe red and black cherry, a touch of sour cherry, plus fine spicy notes (pepper, clove) and a subtle woody underpinning that does not dominate — typical for maturation in large casks.
Palate: Dry, juicy body with good fruit and medium to full structure. The 5.3 g/l acidity provides freshness and drinkability; the 13.5% alcohol feels well integrated. Tannins are present but fine and not rough — a very food-friendly Zweigelt.
Finish: Medium-long, fruit-driven with a spicy, slightly earthy aftertaste; stays clean and not sticky.
Stylistic classification
The “Haussatz” is Hahnekamp‑Sailer’s own estate selection and represents a region-typical, fruit-forward Zweigelt with moderate oak influence. In contrast to the winery’s more barrique-intensive cuvées (e.g. “Magic Moments” with 24 months in small barrels), the Haussatz is more everyday-friendly, direct and less oak-driven.

-
Light floral nuances: white flowers, delicate rose notes
Overall a fine, multi-layered bouquet that appears fresh and not overripe.
Palate:
- Dry, with high but well-integrated acidity (approx. 6–7 g/l), giving the wine plenty of freshness and “dance”.
- Medium body, juicy and elegant, without becoming heavy or broad.
- The fruit continues on the palate: red berries, a touch of citrus, fine mineral accents.
- The wine feels balanced, straightforward and very easy to drink.
Finish: Fresh and mineral, with a clean, dry finish and a light aftertaste of red berries and a touch of spice; the length is very good for a rosé in this category.
Style & classification
“Das Fräulein Rosé” is conceived as an elegant, rather fine-boned rosé, less powerful or extract-rich, but with plenty of freshness and mineral backbone. The winery’s description as “southern French-inspired” fits: stylistically it recalls a fine rosé from Provence, while remaining clearly Austrian in character (Pinot Noir, cool acidity, restrained fruit).
At 12.5% alcohol and with a dry character, it is a classic summer and terrace wine that also works well at the table.
